Hello Parents and carers!
We hope you had a lovely Summer! Firstly, I would like to say thank you for ensuring your child has had as smooth a start to year 4 as they possibly can. All of 4G came in ready to learn and eager to get stuck in!
We have started in English by looking at haikus, a traditional Japanese poem with a 3 line structure (I’m sure your child will be able to explain how many syllables are in each line!). You can see Barney and Kyron hard at work on their haikus! Here is Kevon’s example – can you guess the season?
‘Blossom on the trees
We will have a spring party
Lambs prancing in fields’
In maths this week, 4G have been looking at place value. We have practised partitioning numbers up to 5 digits, whilst looking at counting in tenths and six times tables in our CLIC lessons. Next week we will be looking at more place value, this time including tenths and hundredths.
We had our first swimming session today (Friday 14th). Although the children were eager to get in the pool, this first session was spent focusing on health and safety, and expectations of behaviour during lessons. You can see the class in action in the photo! The children are excited for their first practical session next week!
Lastly, the CGP homework books went out today to children who have paid. Just to remind you that the cost of these is £9.00 for 3 books (maths, reading and grammar). Please try to make the payment as soon as possible as this will be hugely beneficial to supporting your child’s learning (payment via parentpay – please contact the school office if you are unsure of the login details).
Please have a look at the following websites which will further help you in your child’s home learning:
